An Airbus A320 aircraft equipped with China's first civil aviation radial tire was successfully tested at Guilin Liangjiang International Airport on the 21st. This is the first time that China civil aviation aircraft has assembled domestic aviation radial tires, achieving a breakthrough of zero for China civil aviation radial tires.
According to reports, this type of civil aviation tire was developed by China Sinochem's Guilin Lanyu Aviation Tire Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Guilin Lanyu"). It is a high-performance civil aviation radial tire based on innovative technologies such as thermal coupling configuration optimization and key material modulus matching. It has completely independent intellectual property rights, passed the rigorous test and assessment stipulated in airworthiness standards, and its technical performance meets the requirements of international standards. In October 2024, it was awarded the CTSOA certificate of Civil Aviation Administration of China.
"From 2008, we took the lead in breaking through the aviation radial tire technology in China. It has been 16 years since then, and we have experienced a lot of technical iterations. This installation is the first test flight of aviation radial tire installation on a civil aviation aircraft. " Gao Xiangli, chief engineer of Guilin Lanyu Aviation Tire Development Co., Ltd. said that compared with bias tires, aviation radial tires are lighter by more than ten kilograms, and also have the characteristics of long service life, short go-around time and good heat dissipation.
Zhang Yunxiang, deputy general manager of Guilin Lanyu Aviation Tire Development Co., Ltd. said that since 1990s, Guilin Lanyu has provided aircraft tires to China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, International Airlines and other airlines. In 2024, China's first digital aviation tire production line was built, ensuring quality stability through high automation. It has formed a production capacity of 100,000 pieces per year, accounting for about one-third of the national consumption, and will be expanded in due course.
The success of this test flight indicates that China has the ability to guarantee the domestic production of this type of tires. Together with the B737NG aircraft tire successfully tested in 2023, the civil aviation tire developed by China Sinochem can cover about 80% of the total domestic fleet.
It is reported that China Sinochem will complete the development of aviation tires for trunk wide-body aircraft C929, Boeing 777/787 and Airbus 330/350 in the next step, and realize the full coverage of three types of aircraft: feeder, trunk narrow-body and trunk wide-body.
