Boeing falls out of favor, Airbus rises?-USA Aircraft Group Corporation

Date: 2024/11/14

With China Airlines ordering more aircraft to expand its fleet construction, Airbus has been ahead of its American competitor Boeing in China market. According to foreign media reports, it has delivered 15 times as many aircraft to China market in recent years. In comparison, Airbus has won a clear advantage in the China market.

According to the media reports of Reuters, CNN and Simple Flying website, China was the first country to ground the Boeing 737MAX series, and also one of the last countries to resume commercial service of this type of aircraft (in January 2023). Judging from the market reaction in China, the recovery service of Boeing 737 MAX in China is slow and there is great uncertainty, while Airbus A320 has become a more reliable commercial operation aircraft in China market.

According to the above media reports, last year alone, China's three major airlines (China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and China International Airlines) ordered 300 Airbus aircraft. Although the order share of China's C919 in the domestic market has been on the rise, Airbus's competitive advantage is still obvious. In any case, Boeing has fallen out of favor in the China market.

The frequent quality and safety problems of Boeing's products and the long-term investigation by the US Air Traffic Management Bureau are one of the main reasons for its rapid shrinking market share. Boeing's last serious accident occurred on November 8 this year. A Qantas Boeing 737-800 passenger plane flying from Sydney to Brisbane "exploded in the engine" when taking off from the airport, which ignited the lawn near the airport runway. The plane immediately returned and finally landed safely.

At present, China airlines operate about 2,200 surplus Airbus aircraft, among which the proportion of new generation aircraft represented by A320neo series aircraft and A350 is increasing year by year.
